Ahyi and Faralisch deserve all-conference honors

Lucine Ahyi’s Cal’s Due and Juliane Faralisch were named to the Pac-12 All-Conference Team.

Duo has rowed in varsity eights all season

BERKELEY – Seniors Lucine Ayhi and Juliana Faralisch have been named to the Pac-12 All-Conference Team, the conference bureau announced on Friday afternoon. It is the first all-conference honor for both athletes.

The two have rowed in varsity eights all season and have sat side by side for the last two races. At the Pac-12 championships, Ahyi sat in seventh place with Faralisch in fifth place.

Born in Heidelberg, Faralisch receives her third All Conference Award. The four-time Golden Bear letter winner has rowed primarily in the V8+ throughout her career, including the gold-medal-winning boat at the 2018 NCAA Championships.

Ahyi, also a four-time Letter winner, has rowed in the V8+ for the past two seasons. The Nantes native started the year in the bow seat for the Bears but has moved around the boat, settling into the seven-seater at the Pac-12 championships and helping Cal to claim third place.

Cal returns for the opening day of the NCAA Championships on Friday, May 27, which will be held at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla.
