Athletics dominates at Temple Invite

PHILADELPHIA — At their home track at the Temple Sports Complex, the Owls put on a strong performance as several athletes won their individual events at the Temple Invite on Friday afternoon.

Meet Highlights (Temple Invitation):
To start the day Tannekee Strachan and Amira Green took the top places in the long jump and high jump. Strachan jumped to a mark of 5.68m while Green set another personal best with a jump of 1.66m. Nicole Castor and Sophia Gulotti also performed well, posting jumps of 1.56 m to share third place.

In the 100-meter dash, the Owls impressed with five of the first six places Chelby Elam took home the win with a time of 11.95 seconds, closely followed by second place, Christal Pommels.

Pommells and Elam once again finished in doubles in the 200m, this time in reverse order, as Pommells took first place with a time of 24.68.

In the 400 meter dash, Temple’s Marissa White won in dominating fashion, winning the event with a time of 54.44 seconds to beat second place by over three full seconds.

In the 4×100 and 4×400 relays, Cherry & White continued their impressive day, taking gold in both disciplines.

Concluding the day’s distance running, men’s Jeppe Risvig took first place in the 1,500m with a time of 3:57.28, while Cole Frank also took the four-minute race with a time of 3:59.54. brand broke through.

In the same event for women, Temple’s Helen Gottlieb and Michelle Joyce took second and third place.

To wrap up the day, Temple’s Erik Kain and Sean Egan claimed a double in the 5K as both athletes broke the 15 minute mark. Eventually, the Owls placed all five runners in the top five in the women’s 5K Laura Nicholson took home the win with a time of 17:10.31
