JERSEY CITY, NJ – The New Jersey City University track and field teams, men and women, trained by the head coach for their fourth year Patrick O’Neill, published its schedule for 2021-22 today, Wednesday, October 27th. The Gothic Knights will compete indoors on the track for the first time since 2019-20, as they only competed in cross country and outdoor athletics last year in shortened seasons. The men’s and women’s teams will compete against each other on a regular season schedule of nine races, including hosting the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) indoor championship on Monday, February 21, at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island, NY. Both teams will also seek revenge for their fifth place finish at the 2019 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor Championships in The Armory.

The Gothic Knights kick off their season on Friday, December 3rd, when NJCU travels to Ocean Breeze to attend the FastTrack Season Opener. Jersey City will return to Ocean Breeze the following Friday, December 10th, to take part in the Seahawk Shootout hosted by Wagner University.

After the vacation break, the Green & Gold return to Ocean Breeze for back-to-back races. The team will kick off the New Year with the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invite on Friday January 14th. The Gothic Knights then have a quick turnaround as they attend St. John’s University’s Martin Luther King Day Invitational. To end the month, teams will head to the Armory on Friday January 21st to race in the Ramapo College Invite.

At the start of February, the Knights are returning to the Armory for the New York City Division III Invitational (2/4). Teams will then head to West Long Branch, NJ to attend the two-day Monmouth University Winter Collegiate Invitational on Friday and Saturday, February 11-12.

On Monday, February 21, the NJCU Athletics will host their only tournament of the season – the NJAC Indoor Championships – at Ocean Breeze. After the championship on Monday, the Knights will want to return to Ocean Breeze in style when they compete in the FastTrack Last Chance Invitational on Friday, February 25, to qualify for the postseason meetings.

The Gothic Knights want to win their very first team ECAC indoor championship in The Armory on Friday and Saturday, March 4th to 5th. Following the ECACs, NJCU is hoping to continue its season at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships on the historic JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem, NC, March 11-12.
