Athletics travels to the Columbia Challenge for a two-day meet

PHILADELPHIA — Temple’s women’s track and field team returns on Friday and Saturday when they travel to New York for the Columbia Challenge. Last weekend the track and field team did not take part in the Great Dane Classic due to bad weather.

About the Columbia Challenge
> on Friday, Christal Pommels and Chelby Elam Compete in the 60-meter dash preliminary rounds and hope to advance to the finals.
> Allyson Butcher and Tannekee Strachan will compete in heats one and three in the long jump on Friday.
> Nicole Castor and Sophia Gulotti compete in the women’s pentathlon against athletes from Boston College, UConn and UCLA to name a few.
> on Saturday, Michelle Joyce and cat Shontz will make their indoor track and field debut when they line up for the 3,000 meter dash.
> The Owls field a plethora of runners for the 400m, including Kwanda Knight, Leah Kerbiriou, Mary Olayinka Ilelaboyeand Marissa White.

Last Time Out (Villanova Invitation)

> Marissa White Third in the 400m behind Villanova’s McKenna Keegan and Skyy Diop with a time of 56.28. The time is a personal best for White.
> In the 200-meter dash Chelby Elam Eighth with a time of 25.49.
> In the 4x400m relay, the Owls A-Team features Elam, Mary Olayinka IlelaboyeDominyka Petraskaite and White finished third behind Cornell and Villanova in 3:53.25.

> Tannekee Strachan jumped to a personal best of 5.38 m, placing second in the long jump event.
