Boxer rowing competes in the first regatta of the Spring

TACOMA, Washington- The Pacific University rowing team competed in the Logger Invitational regatta on Saturday. The regatta was hosted by the University of Puget Sound during Pacific, Pacific Lutheran and Lewis & Clark.

The boxers competed with two boats in the regatta that day. The Boxers’ first boat entered the Varsity 8 competition. In the boat Sofia Mishima was the helmsman during Chloe Williams, Brooke Fritzler, Savannah Ashbaugh, Emily Black, Isabella TajoFirst Moon Valencia, Alexis Perez and Morgan Hansen sat in boat positions eight through one. Their boat finished third today with a time of 8:39.0.

The second boat of the boxers took part in the Novice 8 competition. They finished fourth in the race with a time of 9:24.3. In the novice boat it was Helmsman Williams, Tayo, Valencia, Ashbaugh, Hansen, Alex, Mishima and Perez.

coaching Charlotte Copp was pleased with her team‘s performance as both boats had numerous entry-level rowers. “Conditions were favorable and it was a great day to experience racing for the first time and I look forward to seeing what we can achieve this year.”

The rowing team next competes in the NCRC Redux event on March 26thth with a scheduled start time of 8am
