Boxers open the fall season at the Race Around Ross Island

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Pacific rowing team kicked off its fall season at the Race Around Ross Island.

The Pacific JV 8+ (4 Varsity, 4 Novice and 1 Novice Coxswain) finished second of three in the college ladies’ boats in the 6200 m race with a time of 28: 54.7. First place in this category went to the Lewis & Clark A-boat (24: 56.5) and third place went to the Pioneers B-boat (29: 39.1).

The boxers were able to overtake Lewis & Clark’s B-Boot on the first 1000m of the race. Although Pacific was the only team that had never rowed the track before, they performed well and performed very well.

“Today was a great day for our team to see at a glance where we are in the conference,” said Head Coach Charlotte Coppa. “With the history of the Lewis & Clark program, I’m excited to see where Pacific can stand for our competitive season early next spring.”

The boxers will continue their fall season on October 17th when they compete in the American Lake Fall Classic in Lakewood, Washington.
