Bradley slips up at UNI women’s tennis, last home game moved indoors

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI women’s tennis claimed top singles and No.4 singles wins but Bradley clinched the team win 5-2
The Panthers are now 4-11 overall and 0-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Bradley improved to 8-11 overall and 2-1 in MVC.
Bradley opened the duel and earned the double by winning all three matchups.
Darta Dalecka tied the team standings with a win at No. 1 in singles in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-0. Andrijana Brkic also earned a point in 4th place in singles with a marathon match after losing the opening set 6-4. She rebounded to win the next two, 6-4 and 7-5.
Thaisa Moreira forced Bradley’s Nina Marjanovic into a tiebreak set but eventually fell 1-6, 6-2, 6-3.
UNI will honor two Panthers on Seniors Day Sunday. Olivia Fain and Emma Karr end their careers at UNI.
Olivia Fain won the MVC Championships in doubles in Flight 3 of the Fall 2019 season. She is the daughter of Michael and Kathryn and will be pursuing her biology degree. She has already been accepted into the University of Iowa’s athletic training master’s program, which she will attend next year. A native of Waterloo, Iowa, Fain attended Columbus High School.
Emma Karr is graduating early and taking advantage of the extended COVID-19 season to compete as a graduate student. Carr is Mark’s daughter and studied biology. She is from Dallas, Texas and attended Hockaday High School.
NEXT
UNI meets preseason favorites Illinois State at 10 a.m. Sunday. It will be the last home game for the Panthers. The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Black Hawk Tennis Club.
The Redbirds were leading the conference until the Drake Bulldogs knocked them out for first place earlier this morning. Drake prevailed 4-3 against Illinois State to give the ISU their first conference loss. ISU is now 12-6 overall and 2-1 in the league.
