BERKELEY – The Cal Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Banquet 2021, scheduled for later this fall, will be postponed due to challenges in hosting a large indoor event during the pandemic. The timing of the event will be decided after the start of the new year.

The ceremony was originally planned for the weekend of October 29th to 30th for an introductory course with 10 greats of the Golden Bear – Sofie Andersson Aagaard (women’s golf), Susie Babos (women’s tennis), Eric Cafaro (women’s rowing), Justin Forsett (soccer). ), Marshawn Lynch (soccer), Bill McClintock (men’s basketball), Xavier Nady (baseball), Angie Pressey Forsett (volleyball), Kort Schubert (rugby) and Ashley Walker (women’s basketball).

“While it is disappointing that we cannot host our Hall of Fame Banquet this fall, we want to make sure that our newcomers, as well as their family, friends and teammates, have an experience they will remember for a lifetime,” said Cal Director of Athletics Jim Knowlton called. “After analyzing the practical and logistical complications we faced, particularly those related to the health and well-being of the participants, we felt it was in everyone’s best interest to postpone the ceremony. When the newest class is introduced, the Cal Athletics Hall of Fame will include 325 individuals and seven rowing teams.
