IRVINE, Calif. – Tuesday, September 28, the morning was reserved for the third annual Concordia Serves Day with no on-campus classes.

The day was a great opportunity for student athletes, coaches, and staff to participate in various non-profit activities on and off campus while networking with others.

Members of the men’s volleyball and beach volleyball teams lent a helping hand by preparing aid bags for the homeless at Charity on Wheels. Tthe dance team has joined the men’s tennis squad to help sort clothes and food in Mary’s Kitchen.

The CUI softball team helped paint tables and beautify Hart Park in Orange County, while members of the swim and dive teams teamed up with athletes to help clean the beach through Newport Beach’s Surfrider Foundation.

Many of our other CUI teams stayed on campus to improve the walkways between the CU Center, the CU Arena, and the BMC. The cross-country teams helped clean up the beautiful Heritage Garden and the baseball team even helped paint parking lots and fire paths.

Another exciting event that has become a tradition here at Concordia is the Helicopter Golf Ball Drop.

Student-athletes, coaches, faculty and staff gathered around the track to watch thousands of golf balls fall into the center of the soccer field. CUI alum and former basketball player Tyler Lacour-Brown was our winner this year!

Thank you again to all members of our CUI family who made this day possible, and especially to all of our alumni and donors for your support throughout the year!

Go eagles!
