The World Rowing Under 23 Championships are the top event of the year for U23 rowers and bring together approximately 1,000 rowers from around the world. She offers 22 boat classes and is returning to Racice in the Czech Republic for the first time since 2009. This event is also the test event for the 2022 World Rowing Championship.
Elbaranes, who will compete in pairs in Racice, is no stranger to international rowing – in 2019 she rowed almost exclusively on the international stage, where she finished second in the C-final of the U18 World Championship in quad, won silver medal at the 58th International Rowing Challenge in the U18 lightweight singles and took third place in the B final of the European Junior Rowing Championships in a four-man team.
I’m extremely proud of Maya and I’m happy for her, “said Headcoach Kim Chavers. âTaking part in the U23 was a big goal for her, and none of these opportunities arose with the pandemic last summer. She patted our eighth school boat last spring, and we look forward to seeing her race at the international Stage against “seeing older rowers. This will be an excellent experience for her pursuing her rowing goals and it will benefit both her and our program. “
Elbaranes was an All-Big-Ten pick of the second team in 2021 and stroked the Uni-eight in the last part of the season. Her couple partner for U23, Karin Brandner, has just ended her freshman season at Rutgers.
