Hawks Post Impressive semester in the classroom

PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph’s University student-athletes had a grade point average (GPA) of 3.30 semesters across 20 varsity programs in the fall 2021 semester, the department said Wednesday. A total of 31 Hawks achieved a perfect 4.0 during the fall, which helped raise the department’s cumulative GPA to 3.33.

“I am extremely proud of our student-athletes who continue to perform well in the classroom,” said the athletics director Jill Bodensteiner. “Balancing academics, athletics and a student’s day-to-day challenges is no easy feat, but our Hawks continue to do so with great composure and care. The academic success of our student-athletes is also a testament to the great support staff at our Athlete Center for Enrichment and the team cultures fostered by our head coaches.”

Overall, 16 out of 20 programs achieved the 3.2 threshold, with six teams surpassing the 3.4 mark.

Women’s tennis led the 3.4+ group with a 3.55, followed by women’s lacrosse (3.54), women’s soccer (3.52), softball (3.51), men’s tennis (3.49) and women’s rowing (3.4).
