Hill, Kelly lead path for Athletics at Ramapo Meet

New York, NY – (January 21, 2022) – The Fordham track and field team got off to a fast start to the weekend as the women finished first out of 15 teams while the men were 12 at the Ramapo Season Openerth from 19 teams.

The high point of the day was the performances by Kyla Hill and Catherine Kelly. Hill won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.75 seconds while Kelly won the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 24.96 seconds. Kelly also added a second place finish in the long jump event with a score of 17′ 10 ¼”.

The Rams had four more second-place finishes in women’s competition, beginning with Dominik Valentin Finished second in the 400 meters in a season best of 1:00.41 while Taylor Mascetta finished second in the 800 meters in 2:20.06. Amanda Gurth 2nd in shot put with 34′ 5 ¾” in Valentine’s 4×400 relay, Michele Daye, Molly Mulvaneyand Marin Bogulsky to get the last second place when they arrived at 4:06.69.

Other top 5 performers on Friday included Casey Metzler in the weight throw (3approx – 45′ 8½”), Skylar Harris in the long jump (3approx – 17′ 9″), Jade Dyer Kennedy in triple jump (4th – 35′ 4 ¾”), Bridget Alex (3approx – 18:18.14) and Maddy Kopec (5th – 19:11.83) over 5,000 meters, Sarah Galvin on the 200 meters (4th – 26.45), Daye over 400 meters (4th – 1:01.79), Mary Kathryn Underwood on the 800 meters (3approx – 2:22.22) and Madeleine Ryan at 3,000 meters (5th – 10:46.23).

The Rams also saw six more goals that day, starting with Ruby Avila Sixth in the 200 meters (26.56). Marin Bogulsky (1:44,33) and Angelica Piccini (1:46.05) finished sixth and eighth over 600 meters Abigail Llach Seventh over 800 meters (2:28.30) and Nicoleta Papavasilakis Seventh in the mile run (5:26.49). Nathania Tan also finished seventh over 3.00 meters (10:57.69).

In the men’s competitions Eric Brown had the best result for Fordham, finishing second in the 600 meters in a time of 1:22.48. He was also a part of the Rams 4×400 relay team Anton Misko, Eric Jacobsonand Jack Reilly who finished fourth in 3:29.23.

Alec Wargo had the second-best finish, finishing fifth in the weight throw by a margin of 43′ 8 ½” while Brandon Hall was seventh in the mile race with 4:21.64. Jacobson was the last top 8 finisher for the Rams, finishing eighth in the 800 yards in a 1:58.95.

Other top performers for Fordham on Friday were John Arvantides at 3,000 meters (9th – 9:34.65), Kenneth Maxwell over 60 meters (9th – 7.12), Thomas Lewis On the 800 meters (9th – 1:59.35), Jack Reilly on the 600 meters (10th – 1:25.97), Colin Flood at the mile run (11th – 4:26.95), Robert LeFevre In the 200 meters (12th – 23.21) and Misko over 400 meters (12th – 52.93).

The Rams will next be in action on January 28th and 29th when they compete at the John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston, Massachusetts.
