Indoor athletics gets an additional tune-up

Colombia, South Carolina – The North Carolina A&T men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams added a meet to their 2022 schedule to improve times and perhaps qualify more athletes for the 2022 NCAA indoor track and field championships.

The Aggies took three first places at the University of South Carolina’s UofSC Indoor Open at the Carolina Indoor Track and Field Complex.

The nation’s highest-ranked team on the men’s A&T track and field team already has second place (Leonard Mustari) and fifth place (Rasheem Brown) The nation’s 60th hurdler. They also have two other quality hurdlers.

Senior Cedric McGriff started the race on Friday in 31st placeSt in the nation with a time of 7.83. Senior teammate Cory Poole was ranked outside the top 40. Poole won the 60 Hours by posting a personal record (PR) of 7.82 at USC. He is now ranked 29thth national. McGriff was third at 7:90 a.m. Friday.

Senior Daniel Stokes won the 200 meters at USC with a time of 20.84. It’s slower than the 20.75 he ran at Clemson University’s Tiger Paw Invitational last week. Stokes is 14thth in the nation, which at that point would make him a qualifier for the NCAA indoor championship in that event.

In the women’s 200m, 10 Aggies sprinters finished in the top 10, led by seniors Kamaya Debose-Epps who won the race a fraction of a second ahead of his graduate teammate Symone Darius. Debose-Epps’ 23.33, recorded on Friday, put her in 26th placeth national.

Meanwhile, Darius is in 14th placeth in the nation after 11:34 p.m. at Tiger Paw last week. second grader Jonah Ross finished fourth with a time of 23.49. She is ranked 38thth in the country. student in the first year Grace Nwokocha finished seventh (23.72) and senior Delecia McDuffie finished eighth (23.73).

Senior Tavarius Wright Second in the men’s 60m with 6.76. Wright’s 6.63 at Tiger Paw put him 21stSt national.
The Aggies will compete in the Big South Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships February 24-25 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, NC
