Lions, Lady Lions compete at the McNeese Indoor Invitational on Saturday
LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men’s and women’s track and field teams will send 37 student-athletes, including 21 men and 17 women, to the McNeese Indoor II Invitational Saturday at the Ralph O. Ward Rec Complex, which begins at 8 a.m
Saturday marks the first indoor meeting of the entire season under the head of the SLU track and field coach Corey Mistretta.
Mistretta, in his fifth year as Southeastern’s head coach, led the men’s team to the 2020 Southland Indoor Championship and was named the 2020 Southland Men’s Indoor Coach of the Year.
“We’ve had some success lately,” said Mistretta. “But I don’t want to put any pressure on our boys or girls this early in the season. I just want to see everyone get their feet wet and let the newcomers compete a few times. McNeese did really well. It will be nice to see how we hold up against them.”
