Men’s and women’s rows announce spring schedule

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men’s and women’s rowing team officially announced the 2022 spring schedule on Monday afternoon, just over two months before the first competition of the season.

The men and women open the first three events together, making their season debut in Philadelphia when they compete at the 39thth annual Murphy Cup on April 2 on the Schuylkill River. Just a week later, the team takes the boats to Cherry Hill, NJ for a weekend outing at the Knecht Cup April 9-10. Philadelphia hosts the Explorers’ third race in as many weeks on April 16, with La Salle competing in the Kerr Cup before a two-week break.

“We have a young, courageous team this year,” he said Kelsey Franks – Assistant coach of the women’s team. “This spring’s schedule gives us an opportunity to gain experience and test our speed against local competition as we prepare for the A-10 Championship.”

The two teams will split up at the end of April as the women will compete in the Kelly Cup while the men will compete in the Bergen Cup.

“Our men’s team has some strong underclass recruits eager to race as well as some older rowers looking forward to getting back on our home course,” said the men’s assistant coach Ivo Krakic. “This year’s schedule will be challenging but it will allow us to really prepare for a return to IRA in June.”

Without racing for another two weeks, the men open in mid-May (13-14) in the 83rdapprox annual Dad Vails on the Schuylkill River. The women are also breaking their absence in the water and will return to Cherry Hill to compete in the Atlantic 10 Championships on May 14th.

The gentlemen watch their season at the IRA Regatta. The 120thth The event will be replayed June 3-5 in West Windsor, NJ on Mercer Lake.
