Men’s track and field season opens with a win over Connecticut College

CENTRAL CITY, CT- Bacon Field House has hosted the first Wesleyan Cardinals athletics meeting since February 1stst by 2020. Almost two years later, the facility hosted an indoor track get-together between the Cardinals and the Connecticut College Camels. Wesleyan put together a stellar opening night, beating the Camels by a score of 74-29. The Cardinals won nine different events, with seven different individuals winning along with the 4×400 relay. A strong overall performance on her return to Bacon Field House.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Christian Denny ’22 had an impressive start and took first place both over 60 meters (7.03) and over 200 meters (22.92).
  • Sam Musto ’24 was first over the 400 meters with a time of 51.28, which was almost two full seconds faster than second. Three cardinals landed in right behind him Emmett Perry ’25 (53.14), Aaron Foote ’24 (53.33), and Luke Consolati ’25 (54.96)
  • For the mile, Wesleyan had two goalscorers in 2nd Place finisher George Lepska ’25 (4: 34.96) and 3approx Place finisher Jasper Shapiro 23 (4: 36.81)
  • On the 3000m, Owen Rogers ’24 ran away and took first place with a time of 8:55:05. Two other cardinals followed him in Will Ratner ’22 (9: 08.30) and Philip Keith ’25 (9: 10.32)
  • Nick Carulli ’22 won the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.11 and was right there Mason Martells ’24 time from 9.16
  • Wesleyan impressed at the throwing competitions Javier Orellana ’25 take 1st at his first encounter in the shot put with a distance of 12.86 m. Connell Oberman ’22 finished 2nd Throw 10.24 m. They swapped the weight litter, with Oberman taking first (12.98 m) and Orellana second (9.68 m).
  • Noah Olsen ’22 First in high jump (1.9m) in front of teammate Andrew Dearborn ’22 (1.85m)
  • The 4 x 400 season of André Collins ’25, Perry, Foote and Nigel Hayes ’23 was first with a time of 3: 38.97

WHAT’S NEXT:

Wesleyan will have over a month off before they run again on January 15ththat at the Little Three Championships at Bacon Field House.
