Mizzou Cross Country Set for Gans Creek Classic

COLOMBIA, Mon.- Mizzou Cross Country will host its second home game of the season on Friday as the Tigers host 16 Division 1 schools in the Gans Creek Classic on the Gans Creek Cross Country Course. The men will compete at 9:00 a.m. CT on the 8k and the women will start the 6k at 9:45 a.m. CT, followed by openings at 10:30 a.m. CT and 11:15 a.m. CT, respectively.

Mizzou will start 26 athletes, 12 in the women and 14 in the men. The men and women will compete against enemies and teams from the Midwest that stretch from Florida to Nebraska. The Tigers will also have a total of six individual races, two women and four men.

There are ten strong returners in the women’s squad on Saturday. Seniors are included in the starters Sarah Chapman (Maidenhead, England), who led the team to a third place on the team at the 2019 NCAA Midwest Regional Championships, finishing in 47th placeNS at the NCAA Championships 2021. Both Reilly Revord (Hinsdale, Illinois) and Isabelle Christiansen (Oswego, Illinois). In addition, outstanding freshmen Allison Newman (Germantown, Tenn.) Will pit the Tigers after a strong 18: 14.80 finish at the Commodore Classic.

In 2020, when this event was last held, the Mizzou women came second with 61 points and the men came first with 34 points. 16 schools will bring their teams to Columbia for the early races and another 12 for the open races, marking most of the teams Mizzou hosted at the Gans Creek Classic races.
