Olympic and Paralympic stars Tara Davis and Hunter Woodhall get engaged

The athletics couple announced their engagement on Sunday in joint Instagram posts showing them on a romantic trip in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

“To my future wife,” Woodhall, 22, wrote in his caption. “I promise to always be there for you. I promise to always take care of you. I promise to always love you. You make me a better person and I cannot imagine my life without you.”

Davis, 22, shared a similar opinion, To write: “You showed me the real meaning of life and now I can spend the rest of my life with you. Let me introduce myself as FIANCÉ.”

In an interview with Insider, Woodhall and Davis said they met for the first time during their Senior year of high school at a track meet in Idaho. They soon started dating and were long-distance relationships for over four years.

In June, the couple hit the headlines as Davis jumped into Woodhall’s arms after competing in the U.S. Olympic Trials and qualification for the Tokyo Olympic Games in the women’s long jump. Woodhall qualified for the US Paralympics team after winning the 400-meter run a week earlier and finishing second in the 100-meter run.

“I have a feeling that speaks for us as a couple,” Woodhall told Insider. “We motivate each other and are a good team in many ways. I think it’s really cool to have these great experiences together.”
