UW men second in varsity four

The Washington men’s rowing team won a silver medal (after Princeton) in the varsity four and saw all three eights qualify for the national championship finals thanks to semi-final runners-up finishes at the 2022 IRA National Championship Regatta at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey.

On Sunday, Washington will row for gold medals in the first, second, and third varsity eights. In men’s collegiate rowing, the winner of the IRA Varsity 8 Grand Final is considered the “national champion”.

In 2021, Washington won all three.

Kinchen is transferring from UW to WSU

Kasen Kinchen trades purple and gold for purple and gray.

Kinchen was an AP All-State defenseman at Lake Stevens and the former University of Washington cornerback will be moving to Washington State, he announced via Twitter on Friday.

Kinchen has spent the last two seasons with the Huskies but has not appeared in any games and entered the transfer portal in April.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder signed with UW in June 2020 as a three-star recruit (247Sports.com) and top 20 prospect in Washington. He chose UW over reported offers from Oregon and California.
