Rowing announces schedule for spring 2022
East Lansing, Michigan. – Michigan State Rowing Coach Kim Chavers announced the spring race schedule for the team 2021-22.
“We’re looking forward to the coming season and the opportunities it brings.” said Chavers. “We’re looking forward to a strong competition schedule in spring and the opportunity to test ourselves and our speed against top crews in our conference.”
The Spartans start the season with two races in Camden, New Jersey. They’ll be competing in the Big Ten / Ivy dual with Yale, Harvard, and Iowa on March 26th. In a short lap they drive on March 27th at the invitation of Doc Hosea.
The Spartans are driving once in the state, with a trip to Ypsilanti, to face Eastern Michigan on April 2nd at Ford Lake. On April 9th, they face more Big Ten enemies in a race with Ohio State, Indiana, Notre Dame and Oklahoma in Columbus, Ohio.
The Big Ten Invitational marks the halfway point of the MSU season and will take place from May 15-16. April in Sarasota, Florida, which also hosts this year’s NCAA championship. From there, the Spartans head to Iowa City for a race on Lake MacBride hosted by Iowa and Tulsa.
At the end of April, the Spartans will face hosts Indiana, Notre Dame and Clemson in the Dale England Cup on April 30th. The race takes place at Eagle Creek Park in Bloomington, Indiana.
This year’s Big Ten championship race will take place on May 15th in Indianapolis, Indiana. The NCAA Championship Regatta will take place May 27-29, 2022 in Sarasota, Florida.
