The National Rowing Foundation is proud to announce the new members of the National Rowing Hall of Fame® in 2021.

1996 Olympic coach of the silver medal four-pointers – the late Igor Grinko. Igor came to the United States after the collapse of the Soviet Union and became a US National Sculling Coach. His 1996 US Quadruple Sculls won the Olympic silver medal, the first ever medal for the United States at the event. He will join the 1996 US Olympic Quadruple-Sculls crewmembers, who were inducted into the National Rowing Hall of Fame in 2016.

Outstanding Athlete – Christine Smith Collins. Christine served on seven United States national rowing teams from 1991 to 2000. She won five world championship medals and in 2000 the Olympic bronze medal in rowing in the women’s lightweight double sculls.

Outstanding Athlete – Bryan Volpenhein. Bryan served on ten United States national rowing teams from 1998 to 2008. He participated in eight world championships and won five medals, three of which were gold. He also competed in three Olympics, winning a gold medal in 2004 and a bronze medal in 2008, both times in the stroke seat in the US National Eight-Oared Boot.

Outstanding Crew – The 1984 Olympic Men’s Eight won the Olympic silver medal. The USA Men’s Eight: # 1 – Walter ‘Chip’ Lubsen, # 2 – the late Andrew Sudduth, # 3 – John Terwilliger, # 4 – Christopher Penny, # 5 – Thomas Darling, # 6 – Fred Borchelt, # 7 – Charles Clapp, # 8 – Bruce Ibbetson, helmsman – Robert Jaugstetter, trainer – Kris Korzeniowski.

The induction ceremony will take place at the National Rowing Foundation – National Team Reunion on October 23 at 4:00 p.m. at the head of the Charles Regatta.
