The Hants and Dorset ARA hosted the 2021 South Coast Rowing Championships at Southampton Water with onshore rigs in the magnificent Royal Victoria Park in Netley, Southampton.
The event, which was postponed last year due to Covid-19, was an outstanding success in a wonderful setting.
The 172 registrations required 33 races for the six championship events, the nine open events and the four junior events.
Itchen Imperial was the standout club to win three championships, including the first event, the men’s foursome with helmsman.
However, there has been confusion over the great Bideford Bowl that is usually presented to the winners.
Outstanding crew from the West of England ARA crew were the Dart Totnes crew of J Bowers, A Abel, F Phillips, M Stranex and helmsman Kate Fraser, who took third place in the junior four-man championship with helmsman.
The trophies and medals were presented by Caragh McMurtry, a GB Women’s 8 member at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics.
