Women’s Cross Country No. 14, Men’s No. 16 in Week One of the USTFCCCA National Rankings
NEW ORLEANS – Ole Miss Women’s Cross Country moved up one place to 14th, while the Rebel Men climbed two positions to 16th in the USTFCCCA National Coach of the Week poll published Tuesday.
This is the 29th time both Ole Miss squads have been ranked at the same time, as well as the fifth in a row going back to the end of the 2020 season. The No. 14 ranking for the Rebel Women builds on their preseason position of No. 15 and is the highest overall ranking since the third week of the 2019 season.
This is the fifth consecutive appearance in the national poll for the Ole Miss women who have now appeared 30 times in their history in the USTFCCCA poll. Ole Miss received votes in at least 22 of the last 23 women’s polls from 2018 and 39 of the last 42 from 2016.
Meanwhile, this is the 47th overall appearance of the rebels and their 41st in a row since the 2016 preseason. In addition, Ole Miss has been 47th of the last 50 since 2014 and received at least 50 of the last 52 votes until 2014, which is her 19th week. Subsequent appearance among the top 20 in the national survey.
Ole Miss opened the 2021 season two weeks ago with a win on the women’s team and third place in the men’s Memphis Twilight. Both Rebel forces are back on duty this week, with Ole Miss traveling to Huntsville for a preview of the NCAA South Regional Course at the North Alabama Showcase. The competition begins early Friday morning (September 17) at 7:30 a.m. CT.
