Women’s Freshman 8+ secures silver medal at Head of the Schuylkill Regatta

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women’s rowing team competed in Saturday afternoon’s Head of the Schuylkill regatta, led by an impressive silver medal performance by the frosh 8+ crew.

“The team was strong today and drove with good results,” said interim head coach Bill Manning. “The class of 2025, our first years, led the way and won a silver medal. We have also achieved good finishes in the championship events, especially compared to our traditional rivals.”

The first boat to compete for the women, the fresh 8+ crew led by helmsman Emily Perry got off to a great start. The rookies led their way to a Silver medal, finishing just 17 seconds behind leader Lehigh and more than 47 seconds ahead of the third-place boat in a time of 14:08.54.

With 41 entries in the Women’s 8+ Club Championship, including two Explorers boats, La Salle’s “A” crew finished in the top 10. The crew, led by the helmsman Maddy Clunefinished just over 30 seconds off a top three time as they crossed the finish line in 13:34.10.

“This is a good and fun way to start the season and will continue to motivate the rowers to train for spring,” concluded Manning.
