Women’s rowing competes at the head of the Charles

BOSTON – With a strong international field this weekend, the Saint Joseph’s women’s rowing team put in a strong performance across their three events at the Head of the Charles Regatta.

“We had a great trip to Boston; the results were really solid. Most important to us is where we stand against our A-10 competition and we’re in really good timing. We’ve overcome a lot this fall and we’re looking forward to it where we can go as a team,” said the Saint Joseph head coach Gerry Quinlan.

How it happened
• The Hawks’ Club 8 by c-Alex Romanella, 8th-Aislinn O’Brien, 7-Corinne O’Neill, 6-Carly Bachinsky, 5-Allison Ruck, 4-Hannah Howard, 3-Molly Duncan, 2-Riley McDade, 1-Emma Staples had the full Head of the Charles experience, including clashing oars with multiple teams, but ultimately had a great race and solid performance, finishing 17th out of 33.
Saint Joseph’s Club 4 by c-Anna Gambescia, 4-Hannah Ashcraft, 3-Anna Martin, 2-Stephen McKenna, 1-Michaela Mulkerins had its best run of the week as it struggled all the way through the course in third place after a difficult starting position.
The Hawk’s Alumni 8 by c-Shannon Mulgrew, 8th-Shane Devine, 7-Demi Simms, 6-Natalie Simms, 5-Allie Howell, 4-Reece Long, 3-Cailin McCully, 2-Kate Lacasse, 1-Jennifer Raphaelson, made up of a majority of 2020 grads who missed the spring portion of theirs have senior season, had a solid performance, passing several teams in the process.
• After the race, Saint Joseph’s christened a Four as “Class of 2020”.
